We'll be beginning a code push in about 15-20 minutes. Please put up your seat backs and return your tray tables to the full and upright locked position. We'll update this entry when we're done!
(2:40AM EST: As always, the prep turns out to be more involved than we predicted. We'll hopefully be starting soon.)
3:10AM EST: And, we're done! Please report any issues here or to Support.

As you may know,
crack_van over on livejournal has been a source of Due South fic recs that community's inception in 2003. Currently,
thursdaynext_27 is reccing over there, and I'll be driving the Due South crack van for March. However, there is no one signed up underneath me to continue our fandom's nine year run. Please consider signing up here to take a turn at the wheel. You can check out what's been recced in the past using the Due South tag on
crack_van or (perhaps more easily) by checking out the links to recs kept over at delicious
If you're at all interested, please don't hesitate to give it a try! This is a pretty low-key thing - you just have to come up with a sentence or two explaining why Fic X rocks your socks. And reccing at
crack_van is an excellent way for newcomers to the fandom to get involved. =)

We're currently planning to do a code push tomorrow night, tentatively scheduled for 2AM EST Wed 22 Feb/11PM PST Tue 21 Feb (7AM GMT Wed 22 Feb). Most changes scheduled for this push are minor and there shouldn't be any more than a few minutes' disruption to service.
We'll update when we begin for you to report any potential issues you notice.

Last summer my friend Lio (it's her nickname, of course) and I travelled to Karelia, a Northern Russian republic famous for the beauty of its nature. I'd been dreaming of going there for years, so I didn't even think twice when Lio suggested spending our vacation there. We purchased a one-week tour for the first week of August. I still have mixed feelings about the tour: on the one hand, we had a really good guide and visited a number of sites in Karelia; on the other hand, we only got 1-2 days at each location, and to say it was too little would be a gross understatement. But at least, now we know what places are worth revisiting and staying for longer.
The place I've been longing for ever since returning is the Solovetsky Islands (Solovki) - an archipelago located in the White Sea. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site most famous for the ancient Solovetsky Monastery. It was also the site of the infamous Solovki prison camp from 1926 to 1939.
And it's also a very, very beautiful and tranquil place. We only stayed on the Bolshoy Solovetsky Island for 1.5 days, and only saw a small part of it, but on our only evening there I was lucky to take pictures of a stunningly beautiful cloudless sunset.

I really, really hope I'll find a way to go there for two or three weeks this summer.
